Hello! Welcome back once more to my blog. It’s hard to imagine that summer is almost gone when it just felt that yesterday was the beginning, time sure does fly by. This blog post entry is a special one for me because one year ago I posted my first blog post and it’s truly incredible looking back at how much I have changed and grown. I am also announcing something very important on this blog and I would like to share that announcement with you.
When I first began this blog, I set out to express myself through writing in a honest and reflective way and I feel that I have stayed true to that and to you. Over this past year I have rarely modified or edited my blog site, I have always tried to remain simple and classic, just like me. A year is a long time tho, and many things come and go, and many things change in life. For the past couple of months I have been feeling increasingly overwhelmed with social media influencer saturation and a general lack of creativity in substitute for substance. I never wanted to create this blog to make money or become a famous blogger, and unfortunately it seems that even this space is becoming a place for people to just make some easy fast money. I created this blog to express myself freely and honestly and that is something I have honestly been wrestling with recently. I know that the fashion industry is still trying to adjust to the new wave of influencers and fashion bloggers (Vogue published an article in depth about this) however I can’t help but feel stuck in the middle in all of this. While I would consider myself an up and coming influencer in the space of men’s style and lifestyle, I will say it here that I am not someone who is just in this space to make money or be social media famous, I am really here to showcase my passions in life and who I am, there is a difference.
I have a passion for men’s style, but that is not the end to who I am. Showcasing outfits outfits and representing brands is simply a means to express my life, it is not the end goal. That is why I feel stuck in the middle because on one side you have bloggers who have been doing this way before money and advertisement was even a thought and on the other side you have influencers showing off the latest fashion trend and I don’t exactly fit completely on either side, I just want to create content that expresses me. Influencer marketing is only increasing and with that comes more and more people trying to make a name for themselves in this already crowded space. My concern is that we are starting to see too much of the same content that is easy to replicate but does it have value? One question I constantly ask myself is if I was rich and famous would I post the content that I am posting today?
With all this being said I am announcing that I am choosing to stop writing blog posts on this blog, for some time. I honestly feel that now is the time for me to look for other means to express myself and I truly feel that I have expressed what I want to say in my blog posts, change is just around the corner. Now is the time for change and while I will stop writing blog posts until further notice on this blog, I will begin to post about other passions of mine like my music specifically my own compositions. I will also feature projects and collaborations I work on now, as well as other things of my interest such as film and art. This blog will grow and change just like me, and I want to be able to be as free as I can with expressing myself and my passions. I know that this is in some way closing a chapter of my life already, but it’s exciting to know that a whole new chapter awaits me, and I cannot wait to see just what life will have in store for me on this already incredible adventure. Thank you for tuning in to my blog throughout this past year. It has honestly been so fulfilling for me to share with you some of my more personal experiences and thoughts in life and while there won’t be anymore blog posts of my writing for now, there will be new and exciting projects and content that I can’t wait to share with you. And always remember that the words we use and the ideas we think have the power and influence to change the world, in the great words of Robin Williams from Dead Poets Society; “To quote from Whitman, “O me! O life!… of the questions of these recurring; of the endless trains of the faithless… of cities filled with the foolish; what good amid these, O me, O life?” Answer. That you are here – that life exists, and identity; that the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. That the powerful play goes on and you may contribute a verse. What will your verse be?”
What will your verse be?
